Good morning, Dublin!
Welcome to the new week. While the post-Comic Con glitter is still being swept up, the city isn't slowing down. We have a major change for learner drivers kicking in today, a high-energy takeover at the 3Arena, and a fresh batch of roadworks to navigate on your morning commute.
⛅ WEATHER:
Today: ☁️ A cloudy day ahead for Dublin. High of 12°C.
Tonight: ☁️ Remaining cloudy with a low of 5°C.
Rain: There is a 25% chance of rain during both the day and night.
Wind: A steady breeze from the southwest at 8 mph.
📣 THE BIG SCOOP RSA Rule Change: No Cert, No Test
The Gist: From today, Monday, March 9th, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) is enforcing strict new insurance requirements for all driving tests.
The Details:
The Document: You must bring a valid Certificate of Motor Insurance.
The Catch: If you are not a named driver on that specific certificate, you now need a formal email or letter (on headed paper) from the insurance company confirming you are covered to drive that vehicle for the test.
The Consequence: If you show up without these specific documents, your test will be cancelled on the spot.

Why it matters: This change follows a dispute regarding examiner safety and insurance coverage. Double-check your glove box today if you have a test booked!

📰 NEIGHBORHOOD NUGGETS (Neighborhood News)
📍 Dublin 7 (Phibsborough): Controversy continues over the regeneration of two derelict homes on Phibsborough Road. Plans to transform them into social housing were recently scrapped due to "excessive costs," sparking frustration among locals who want to see the derelict sites brought back to life.
📍 Dublin 5 (Dollymount): A huge well done to the students of Ellenfield Community College who, in partnership with EirGrid, successfully cleared 80kg of rubbish from Dollymount Strand over the weekend.
📍 Dublin 3 (Clontarf): The "Wall of Contention" is back in the news as residents remain divided over the planned flood defences. While some argue the walls are essential, others are fighting to preserve the sea views that define the neighborhood.
📍 Dublin 24 (Tallaght): A motion is before the South Dublin County Council today regarding the proposed disposal of the fee simple for 60 Homelawn Road, as part of ongoing local property management.
🚧 THE COMMUTE: SOUTHSIDE WORKS
A fresh round of maintenance begins today. Here is where you might find a "Stop/Go" sign:
Tallaght/D24: Footpath repairs start today on Alderwood Grove, Hazelgrove, and Lugnaquilla. These are scheduled to last until Friday.
Howth: Main Street at the junction with Tuckett's Lane closes today at 9:00 AM for surface water drainage works. It's a 24-hour closure until March 20th.
M50 Watch: Tonight (from 22:00), expect lane closures between J10 Ballymount and J11 Tallaght for gantry maintenance.
