Good morning, Dublin!

Morning, Dublin! โ˜˜๏ธ Happy Sunday, and welcome to Festival Day 2. If yesterday was anything to go by, the city is absolutely flying. Today has a different flavour, it's a bit more cultural, a bit more intimate, and honestly some of the best events of the whole weekend are happening today. Oh, and we've got a big story that affects every single Luas commuter in the city, a new operator has been confirmed. Let's get into it. ๐Ÿ€

โ›… WEATHER:

  • Today: ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ Light rain throughout the day with a high of 9ยฐC.

  • Tonight: โ˜๏ธ Cloudy. Low of 4ยฐC.

  • Wind: Blustery conditions from the west at 19 mph.

  • Outlook: Keep an eye on the sky; there's a 35% chance of rain (and potentially sleet) during the day and night.

Why Burned-Out Professionals Are Turning to CBD

Long hours, heavy workloads and frustrating coworkers: job burnout is on the rise. Savvy professionals are turning to CBD and its sister compound, CBG, to manage work stress and burnout without losing focus.

Like CBD, CBG is a non-intoxicating compound found naturally in the hemp plant that is known for helping to manage mild/temporary anxiety. And these benefits are backed by science: participants in a 2022 CBDistillery study who took CBD + CBG reported:

  • Reduced mild or temporary anxiety and tension

  • Increased focus and mental clarity

  • That CBD + CBG was more effective than other treatments they tried in the past

When it comes to quality CBD products, CBDistillery is leading the way. Non-GMO, US-grown hemp, 100% clean ingredients, and a 60-day satisfaction guarantee give you one less thing to stress about.

๐Ÿ“ฐ NEIGHBORHOOD NUGGETS

Northside ยท Finglas / Dublin 11

Buried in the Luas contract announcement this week was a genuinely exciting line for Finglas. Transport minister Darragh O'Brien confirmed that the Luas Finglas extension , 3.9km from the city centre out to Finglas Village, Charlestown and Finglas West , is "ready to progress to the next stage once funding is secured." That's further along than it's ever been. If and when it's built, it'll be the biggest public transport win the Northside has seen in a generation. Watch this space.

Southside ยท Dรบn Laoghaire

Huge news for the Southside coast. Dรบn Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has launched an ambitious Harbour Masterplan , a long-term transformative vision for one of the most beautiful and underused stretches of coastline in the country. The plan covers the entire harbour area and is set to reshape how locals and visitors experience the seafront. DLR are seeking public feedback , dlrcoco.ie for details. If you live anywhere along the D18/D4/DLR coast, this directly affects you.

Northside West ยท Housing

Social Democrats TD Rory Hearne has called on the Government to legislate against the "out-of-control" number of Airbnbs and vacant homes across Dublin , particularly in Northside communities where properties are being kept empty or rented short-term instead of going to people who actually need homes. Hearne wants a national register of vacant homes and stricter enforcement of the Short-Term Letting Act. With 12,198 people homeless in Dublin, it's hard to argue with him.

Southside ยท Tallaght / Lucan / South Dublin

South Dublin County Council has launched its Economic Strategy 2026โ€“2036 , a ten-year roadmap targeting 1,500 new jobs every year across Tallaght, Lucan, Clondalkin and beyond. The plan puts a big emphasis on creative and media industries, food and drink, and technology , and specifically mentions the regeneration of Tallaght and the City Edge project as the main drivers. If you live in D24 or D22, this is the plan shaping what your area looks like in 10 years.

Southside West ยท Adamstown / Lucan

Dublin Mid-West TD Mark Ward has renewed calls for more carriages on the Adamstown to Heuston commuter route , one of the most overcrowded rail lines in the country. He says he was told capacity increases were coming in 2026, but the timeline has now been pushed to 2027. "It is not good enough," he told the Dรกil. If you do this commute every morning, you already know.

Abbey Theatre Selling Out for Paddy's Weekend , Irish Drama Is Buzzing

The Abbey has a packed festival weekend programme, their Dublin family satire Fair Deal (on the Peacock Stage) and the 100th anniversary production of Sean O'Casey's The Plough and the Stars are both playing to strong audiences. Meanwhile Bewley's Cafรฉ Theatre on Grafton Street is doing sold-out lunchtime shows during the festival , Wild Swimming runs daily from Monday at 1pm for anyone who wants something a bit more offbeat. Irish theatre is in a genuinely great place right now.

Tuesday is almost here. Get your spot sorted. ๐ŸŽบ

Parade starts at noon Tuesday 17th March from Parnell Square (Northside). Finishes at Cuffe/Kevin Street (Southside). O'Connell Street gets rammed early โ€” locals know to arrive before 10am. Tuesday weather forecast is looking the best of the week at 13ยฐC and only 20% chance of rain. Grand parade day. ๐Ÿ€
