Good morning, Dublin!

Grab the sunscreen (seriously!) and your favorite cape—it’s a massive weekend for the capital. After Ireland’s bonus-point win over Wales last night (27-17, for those who missed the late-night celebrations), the city is buzzing. We have superheroes descending on the Convention Centre, a major march for International Women's Day, and a reminder that while today is for the girls, Mother’s Day isn't until next Sunday.

⛅ WEATHER & TRAVEL:

  • Saturday: ☀️ Dry & Mostly Sunny. A stunning start to March with highs of 12°C. The best sunshine will be in the east and northeast.

  • Sunday: 🌥️ Mainly Dry but Cloudier. Highs of 11°C. We might see some patchy drizzle near the coast in the afternoon, but it should stay mostly pleasant.

  • Travel: The DART is running a full service, but expect high volumes around the Convention Centre and Dame Street for today’s major events.

📣 THE BIG SCOOP Fandom Fever: Dublin Comic Con Hits the Liffey

The Gist: Thousands of fans are descending on the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) today and tomorrow for the Spring edition of Dublin Comic Con.

The Details:

  • The Atmosphere: Expect to see Spider-Man on the Luas and Stormtroopers in the Docklands. Doors open at 9:30 AM for early entry.

  • The Guest List: Autograph and photoshoot sessions are in full swing with international stars from the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, and gaming.

  • The Cosplay: The legendary Cosplay Masquerade takes place this afternoon—it’s the best place in the city to see world-class costume craftsmanship.

Why it matters: It’s one of the city's most inclusive and vibrant events, injecting a massive boost into the local economy and making the Docklands the coolest place to be this Saturday.

📰 NEIGHBORHOOD NUGGETS

📍 Coolock / D17: Oscar Traynor Woods Launch

  • The Scoop: The first residents moved into the "Coyne Woods" section on Wednesday. It’s a massive win for the area, but there’s a bit of a neighborhood "scuffle" brewing over a €7 million Community Gain Fund.

  • The Nugget: Locals in the Lorcan Estate and Castletimon Gardens are pushing for that money to be spent on a new extension for the 50-year-old Lorcan Estate Community Centre.

📍 Cabra / D7: St. Finbar’s Court

If you’re over in Cabra, there’s a lovely new addition to the streetscape.

  • The Scoop: 46 new A-rated social housing units for senior citizens were officially launched this week.

  • The Nugget: The development features a brand-new landscaped courtyard that’s being called a "peaceful oasis" for the residents—keep an eye out for the community events planned there for Seachtain na Gaeilge.

📍 Rathfarnham & D16: Footpath & Water Works

  • The Scoop: It’s a busy week for maintenance. Footpath repairs wrapped up yesterday in Old Bawn and Lugnaquilla, while the Kilakee View Point car park should be freshly resurfaced and ready for your weekend mountain walks.

  • The Nugget: Keep an eye on Pearse Brothers Park. Notice went out this week regarding storm water drainage works for the new social housing development there, which will trigger some temporary closures starting later this month.

📍 Skerries: Priory Fields Update

  • The Scoop: Fingal County Council just announced the application details for the first 36 affordable homes at Priory Fields.

  • The Nugget: It’s a 10-minute walk from the train station—perfect for those looking to stay local but keep the city commute easy.

📣 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY "Give To Gain": Dublin Marks IWD 2026

The Gist: Tomorrow is International Women's Day, and Dublin is hosting a series of events focused on the 2026 theme: Give To Gain.

  • The ROSA Socialist Feminist Movement is hosting a major demonstration starting at 1:00 PM on Sunday at Barnardo Square (Dame Street). The march focuses on solidarity and action against gender-based violence.
